Smaller class sizes often mean more individualized attention for students, which can positively impact learning outcomes. This scorecard was compiled from the most recent available research and reflects the current perceptions of U.S. teachers about the level of support they receive from their schools for their instructional work. As we collect more data it will be updated, but for now this research based national survey can be interpreted as follows:
Q1. A slight majority of teachers believe that the current curriculum aligns well with educational standards. However, a third think it does not align well, indicating that there is room for improvement.
Q2. Teachers are generally satisfied with the effectiveness of textbooks and digital learning tools, but around 20% believe they could be more effective.
Q3. Student engagement appears to be a significant issue, with 35% of teachers noting that their students are disengaged to some degree.
Q4. Communication effectiveness between schools and parents is generally rated positively, but there is still a notable percentage of teachers who believe it could be improved.
Q5. The significant majority of teachers seem to feel that their classroom's student-to-teacher ratio is unmanageable and impedes their ability to provide each student with sufficient individual attention.
As always, it's important to dive deeper into these responses and find the underlying causes.
